The rain won’t stop this hard core camper and all the hillbillies from Dublin enjoying a very wet weekend in Hidden Valley Holiday Park, Rathdrum Co. Wicklow
The Clampettes arrive in Rathdrum Co. Wicklow.
The park offers self-catering accommodation, glamping (“glorified” camping) lodges and a caravan and camping area.
We’re not afraid to sleep rough and embrace the great outdoors so we pitched our tents in the camping area. Some of the party didn’t last the night as their tents were flooded by 3am and they ended up sleeping in the car. I was snug as a bug in a rug for the entire night 🙂
The onsite facilities are fantastic the kid’s outdoor adventure fun park is brilliant and will keep the kids entertained for hours. They offer crazy golf, bumper boats, cinema nights, water balls, archery, rock wall, bungy trampolines, combat laser tag and more.
Visit the onsite lake for swimming, fishing, rowing boats, kayaks and more.
Crazy golf €6 pp
After a jam packed day full of activities it was time to build a campfire and toast some marshmallows. Campfires are permitted on site which made for a nice surprise as a lot of campsite in Ireland do not allow this.
The site is located next to the Wicklow Mountains and the Clara Valey National Park, both oferring numerous forest walks/trails.
Attractions include Glendalough, Mount Usher Gardens, Powerscourt, Clara Lara Funpark, Wicklow Gap, Wicklow Way, Avondale House, Greenan Farm Museum/Maze, Avoca (Ballykissangel) and many more.
Overall, Hidden Valley Holiday Park is a beautifully run site with great amenities, hot showers €1 and an onsite lake so there’s no need to leave the park. You can check in and stay put for the whole weekend.
